Current Projects

Student Council will help Mr O’Sullivan and Mr Finn with organising/running the “Walk-A-Marathon” challenge. This will involve putting out/taking in cones every day and keeping track of kilometres completed. They also wore their badges and represented our school on Monday 27th February when Mr. Jimmy Deenihan came to officially launch the marathon.

This year the Student Council will also act as our “Active School” committee. This will involve working towards getting an Active Flag for our school.

Student Council are currently gathering ideas for our new school garden. Due to construction work, our existing garden had to be dug up and is now a blank canvas for us to work on. It is important to get feedback from the children to gain an idea as to what they would like to see there. So far we have come up with the following suggestions:

An Insect Hotel

A Fairy House

Benches

Vegetable Patch

Bird Feeders

Wind Chimes

Susan Daly, a parent in our school, has offered to help us with our vegetable patch and Pat, our Caretaker, will be setting grass there to begin with.  We would welcome the knowledge and expertise of any other parent who could help out with our garden!

“Coppers Collection”

In an effort to fund our new school garden we will be doing a “Coppers Collection” in the last term. We will be asking everyone to collect 1c,2c and 5c coins and put them in the jars provided. As we have been collecting money for the Marathon this term, we decided to leave this until after Easter. However we have asked all children to start gathering now!!!
